Yaw Bannerman

I'm a black African male, half Ghanaian half Motswana, born 1990/28/06. I would describe my music as "Genre experimental" coz I still to the rules of genres but add whatever sort of improvisation or uncommon element to the specifics.

Tell us about you and how you would you describe your "art"?
I'm a black African male, half Ghanaian half Motswana, born 1990/28/06. I would describe my music as "Genre experimental" coz I still to the rules of genres but add whatever sort of improvisation or uncommon element to the specifics.

Where are you based?
Johannesburg, South Africa.

How long have you been making "art" and how did you get started?
I started playing the piano casually at 7years old, at 8 years old I studied practical and theory Royal school of music till grade 6 practical and grade 4 theory. But all this is because my parents sort of forced me to start, the noticed I liked to sing and got me a piano and a tutor. I got my first FruityLoop2.1 from a fellow artist/producer called YoungC who I grew up with when I was about 11 years old so I've been making music for about 11 years now.

Do you come from an artistic background?
No, well my dad used to play the bass in a band, but that was in his "cool" days, he introduced me to a lot of good music though.

What inspires you? What are your influences (Who or What)?
I get inspired by a lot of things, lyrics, a certain tone of voice, a certain mood or circumstance, a high, an experience, love, hate, even a face can inspire me. And my number one influence, I'm not sure if its appropriate to say, hahaha. But once it kicks in I flow like water.

What is your most proud accomplishment so far?
Ive done a lot of stuff, but nothing I can say takes the title of my "most proud" accomplishment. When I score a Hollywood film, or produce an artist that goes GOLD or PLATINUM, or win a prestigious award, I'll be sure to holler at you.

Where are you trying to end up? (5 year plan?)
I plan to have a bunch of film scores under my belt, block buster hollywood films, I want to be known worldwide for my music, I'm still growing, finding my sound, my style, but in 5year I should be highlighted as one of the best film scorers in Africa.

What are your favorite things in life so far?
In this order, Music, and money.

If we gave you P1M what would you do with it?
I would build a powerhouse of a studio, to finally have my own place to work and for others too. I'd invest. And I'd send some to my family. Probably do some shopping and leisure spending haha, yea, im 22 so I'd live.

Where can people buy/get a hold of your work?
Well, for starters people could go to www.lalela.com I have some volumes of library music there that gets licensed internationally. Apart from that I've just got work everywhere, stuff that ive produced for artist, films etc so you'll have to be intouch with my music movements to be able to hear what im really about. Haha

Any thanks or shout outs?
