SniteVille AKA DatBass

Well, it all started way back in primary school in Tlokweng Dayspring. Initially I was called Bone in my younger days but it changed along the way to Snite, which means to blow or snuff out .I just added the "ville" which translates to city or town in French (SniteVille), which in turn translates to blow or snuff out your town/city. I hold a degree in international business(European school of Economics) and a diploma in music production, sound engineering and music business from Point blank music college and soon to be working more on my film

Tell us about you and how you would you describe your "art"?

Initially I was called Bone in my younger days but it changed along the way to Snite, which means to blow or snuff out .I just added the "ville" which translates to city or town in French (SniteVille), which in turn translates to blow or snuff out your town/city. I hold a degree in international business(European school of Economics) and a diploma in music production, sound engineering and music business from Point blank music college and soon to be working more on my film music score credentials. My music differs from trippy to heavily induced bass, minimal or weird arrangements.my music aint for the club I think .its more collective and chilled.

Where are you based?
I was based in London, UK but now back home in Botswana until about May for my move to the states but I rep Bots alday erday wherever im at.

How long have you been making music and how did you get started?
I am always influenced with a wide range of music, ranging from Gospel, Soul, Jazz, House, and Hip-Hop. My musical journey began when I was about 8 years old, watching my mum rehearse with the choir and band for church. My ears got exposed to a lot of things that really attracted me towards music. I started playing the saxophone and trumpet as they rehearsed and really got a good feel for it. I moved on to the Recorder, which wasn't much of a big stepping-stone to me but got me really accustomed to using melodies. I had my little rapper phase but let's scrap that and shrug it under the carpet (stick to your pros). My world opened when I first got introduced to fruity loops...the first one. You couldn't really play with sounds as you wanted or control or manipulate the sound design as you wanted but I learnt about counting beats arranging tracks and playing with digital sounds through it. Fast forward to 2009 I fell in love with Logic Pro because it did exactly what I wanted when I wanted and how I wanted with enough practice of course. Currently I play the piano and still perfecting my art to the best level I can. I guess throughout that whole process the decision became pretty simple to move towards becoming a music producer.

Do you come from an artistic background?
I would say so yeah.my mum was in the choir.my late uncle sang as well, so I guess pretty much I was surrounded by vocalists. Although both my folks come from a professional background there was always music about and I mean always.

What inspires you? What are your influences (Who or What)?
Many things inspire me from movies(vintage movies e.g Casablanca),different sounds you hear just on your daily routines, books, spoken word, old school songs from the 1930s n 40s and of course other peoples music like Bonobo, flying lotus, flux pavilion, little people, boombaptist, major lasers. I get my inspiration from different aspects of life.

What is your most proud accomplishment so far?
Hmmm good question. I've done some great collabos with signed and unsigned artists but for me my proudest accomplishment is finally releasing my beat tape compilation "In The Mist Of Darkness Vol.1".it took me almost 2yrs to create and the wait was worth it.it my first baby of many more to come.

What are your tools for creating?
Lol now you asking producer secrets. I will tell you this though I use logic pro 9, xboard61 keyboard, a lil mpc here n there and I cant live without my massive plug in.

What sets you apart from the others?
Im not scared to venture into other genres. I've done rock, dubstep, drumnbass, triphop, hiphop, jazz, funk and alternative. I hate secluding myself to one genre so I'm always challenging myself in other genres.it keeps me rooted. I make tracks outside of the norm if you wana call it that.

Where are you trying to end up? (5 year plan?)
Well my 5yr plan is simple. My label will be fully established and we will have opened a studio fully equipped to cater to the artists and other projects. With that in mind building more than 6 revenue income streams and hopefully a lil youngin running around the crib butt naked wrecking stuff...not in the studio though lol. A production deal would be good as well with a major label.

What are your favorite things in life so far?
Bass,family and motivation.

If we gave you P1M what would you do with it?
20% to church, 10% to charity, 20% on family the rest im going to blow it on building the studio to a high standard. Leaving a legacy behind is better than just thinking about "teamself".

Any advice for people trying to do what you do?
Have a good work ethic, present it professionally and last but not least you can not please everybody so do what is right for you because if you try please everybody you will fail miserably and end up compromising on things you didn't want to compromise on in the first place.

Where can people buy/get a hold of your work?
