Fine art photography and visual thoughts in mixed media. Always exploring potential through colour and play.

Tell us about you and how you would you describe your "art"?
Fine art photography and visual thoughts in mixed media. Always exploring potential through colour and play.

Where are you based?
Maun, Botswana.

Do you come from an artistic background?
My mother is an artist and my greatest teacher. I grew up in a framing gallery surrounded by artists, art and creativity. I've always been making "art" but started taking it seriously about two years after high school. I am number three of four girls - a musician, a dramatist, a visual artist (myself) and a scientific geologist. My decision to BE an artist came gradually to me - I sort of wandered into the party like a space cadet.

What inspires you? What are your influences (Who or What)?
I drink feelings. I'm inspired by balance, paradox and mood..and I change my mind all the time. But I favour the Old Masters, especially in terms of photography. I idolised Frida Kahlo as a child. I suppose my main influences/inspirations are nature, human emotion and my own romanticism and nostalgia.

What is your most proud accomplishment so far?
I have come to know myself.

What are your tools for creating?
A camera, paint, bits of stuff, words, colour, empathy and curiosity.

What sets you apart from the others?
I find this question challenging. I make art for the love of art. I hope this is true for everyone. So my own unique experience would set me apart, but wouldn't that be true for all of us?

Where are you trying to end up? (5 year plan?)
I'd love to be an inspiration to someone/some people. I'll have a business that provides art to all. Hopefully an artist's collective where we can learn and share on both creative and business levels. And a herbalist. I want to grow my own food and medicine and teach others to do the same.

What are your favorite things in life so far?
BIG little question. Umm.. Choice. My favorite thing is choice. And development. And living dreams. And cheap ice-cream. But to have the ability to choose those things is invaluable.

If we gave you P1M what would you do with it?
Set up a collective for artists with workshops, professional development programs and a coffee shop. Teach children. Teach everyone about the power of art. Travel to strange places, make connections and have a worldwide collective of artists committed to sharing what's good in the world. Nurture an abundant organic farm..and sponsor people to learn about farming, health and living naturally.

Any advice for people trying to do what you do?
Explore yourself. Find out what you love and go do it. Find out what scares you and do that too.

Where can people buy/get a hold of your work?
