Neo Mokgosi aka Faith In A Jar

I am a young, female photojournalist who sees the world through many eyes and wants to give it a million faces. Right now I specialize in portrait photography which includes poetry sessions, live music community outreach, theatre and all the moments in-between. Faith In A Jar is about hope, inspiration, motivation, self-belief, self-reliance, self-esteem, creativity, perspective, love and laughter.

Tell us about you and how you would you describe your "art"?
I am a young, female photojournalist who sees the world through many eyes and wants to give it a million faces. Right now I specialize in portrait photography which includes poetry sessions, live music community outreach, theatre and all the moments in-between. Faith In A Jar is about hope, inspiration, motivation, self-belief, self-reliance, self-esteem, creativity, perspective, love and laughter.

Where are you based?
Gaborone Botswana.

How long have you been making "art" and how did you get started?
Since 2010.

Do you come from an artistic background?
Not at all. I kind of, slipped, tripped and landed in the eye of the tiger.

What inspires you? What are your influences (Who or What)?
I see the difference between looking and seeing
i seek peace and mindfulness
i seek treasures, but not gold
i seek individual creases within the fold

I am inspired by everything! We have information and ideas and thoughts and actions thrown as us all day every day. I indulge the senses and feast on life's experiences.

What is your most proud accomplishment so far?
Waking up every day is a gold star in my books.

What are your tools for creating?
Cannon 450 D, 50mm fixed lense, External Flash, Tripod, adobe photoshop elements.

What sets you apart from the others?
I try to suggest notions of what might be just beyond the frame of any picture I take, a suggestion of wonder of what might be just around the corner. The photos I take are real moments, gems that exist for a moment or two before they are gone and I'm trying to keep and share as much of the beauty of that transience as possible.

Where are you trying to end up? (5 year plan?)
I don't have a 5 year plan. I don't even have a 5 day plan. Growth comes in swells so I just go with the flow. I am aiming for my own Faith In A Jar Photography Studio, I dream of festivals, travel adventures, and as many 'Holy Shit, Life Is Incredible' moments I can fit into a lifetime. I'm also interested in branching out into graphic design, videography and installation art.

What are your favorite things in life so far?
Music, poetry, light, radical self-expression, interconnectedness, collaboration , and tea.

If we gave you P1M what would you do with it?
Buy a mobile studio and go around the world.

Any advice for people trying to do what you do?
Do your homework! If your going to get in to something make sure you do it well. i.e in photography take the time to LEARN how to use your camera properly.

Where can people buy/get a hold of your work?
www.fathinajar.blogspot.com

How can people get in touch with you?
Faith In A Jar facebook page (faithinjar LINK) faithinajar@gmail.com, @faithinajar.

Any thanks or shout outs?
Shout-out to Home Base! Homie G, Home Skillet, Home Fry, Home Grown, Home High, shout out to anyone who ever flashed the camera a smile, to anyone who ever caught themselves grinning at a photo of amazing times, to anyone who wakes up in the morning and thinks 'I wonder what you've got in store for me today?'
